We at Viridian Staffing would like to address a matter of confusion in the marketplace. It has come to our attention that there is a company named The Viridity Group, which, like us, operates in the cannabis industry offering similar staffing and recruiting services.
We wish to clarify unequivocally that Viridian Staffing has no affiliation, association, or relationship with The Viridity Group. Viridian Staffing, established in 2013, is the pioneering firm in cannabis industry staffing and predates The Viridity Group by at least 6 years. Our longstanding presence in the industry, built over years of dedicated service, is something we are immensely proud of.
The similarity in the names of our companies, Viridian vs Viridity, has caused understandable confusion. We believe this was intentional on the part of The Viridity Group. This has been particularly concerning given our distinct reputations and business practices.
We believe it’s important to inform our clients and the public that the choice of name by The Viridity Group, which closely resembles ours and targets the same industry, was made not only despite, but because of, the established presence and reputation of Viridian Staffing in the cannabis industry at the time of The Viridity Group’s founding.
There is scarcely anything more valuable, as a new business, than to have consumers in your target market have the sense that they have heard of you before. Businesses spend years and millions of dollars to create that sense of recognition.
It strains credulity to believe that the founders of The Viridity Group launched their brand without engaging in the simplest forms of market research, like Googling terms related to “cannabis industry recruiting” or “staffing.” If they had, and we are sure they did, they could not have failed to note our prominence in this market.
While we are not a very litigious organization and would strongly prefer to focus our energies on providing exceptional service rather than engaging in ugly legal disputes, we feel it is necessary to protect our name and the goodwill we have built over the years.
We are hopeful that The Viridity Group will recognize that their attempt to piggyback on our hard-earned reputation makes them look pretty unprofessional, if not unethical, and consider rebranding to avoid further unnecessary confusion in the cannabis industry marketplace. It would be far easier and less costly to do so now than later.
If The Viridity Group is annoyed by us pointing this out, they can rest assured that we are doubly annoyed that their actions have made this PSA necessary to defend the hard-won value and reputation of our brand.
This PSA will remain up to protect our business, as well as consumers of our services, so long as The Viridity Group stands to continue benefitting and profiting at our expense.
